作者嘗試從聖經記載、世界古代文明史、考古及科學角度，追溯地球及人類歷史的開始。他相信萬物皆由上帝「由無變有」及「各從其類」地創造出來，期間沒有進化過程，而人類被造之日，這日期距今約六千至一萬年。作者認為，世界縱沒有億萬年之久，但其近萬年的歷史已然是極漫長歲月。

地球或人類歷史之長短雖非基督教信仰核心，更跟耶穌基督之救恩沒有甚麼牽連，不過作為追溯源，也值得我們稍為尋索細思。

作者簡介

禤浩榮，香港出生，中學畢業後赴加拿大讀預科及大學（西門菲莎大學，Simon Fraser University），主修生物學。畢業後回港任教中學，後再赴加拿大維真神學院（Regent College）修讀道學碩士。八七年回港牧會及繼續進修，先後修畢中國神學研究院（CGST）神學碩士課程及美國加州福樂神學院（Fuller Theological Seminary）教牧學博士課程。禤先生與妻子鄭永瑜及兩女兒（雁婷及燕衡）現居於加拿大溫哥華，他現為溫哥華列治文門諾會平安堂傳道。

禤先生另著有「但以理書與啟示文學」、「聖經中的希伯來人」、「永恆的十誡」、「圖片舊約四千年」及「淺談聖經預表」，譯有「兩約之間」。
